Restorative Justice Program
Atmosphere Academy's core philosophy regarding behavior is for students to do their best and if they fall short in upholding their positive position in our community they must restore the situation. Students are supported by the restorative processes through one-to-one conferencing, mediations, community circles, and Restorative Justice classes. The grade level Deans work with every student, team, and teacher to build restorative practices schoolwide. Increasing student voice is key in establishing a student’s role in restoring any situation.
Restorative Justice is conducted in a circle with each academic team once a week to check for and address any community concerns for the week. The grade-level dean facilitates the circle, student voices and concerns are heard and addressed. Conflict resolution and community support are highlighted during Restorative Justice. Each student is encouraged to speak about the identified situation.
